Deemed rates and default rates
Deemed and default rates are what a business pays for its energy when a contract’s not in place. Also known as out-of-contract rates, these are usually temporary tariffs applied before a longer-term plan is secured.
Why are these rates more expensive?
Deemed rates
What are deemed rates?
A deemed rate is a business energy price you pay temporarily when you're with Brook Green Supply but don't have a formal contract.
This often happens during a change of occupancy when you move into a new business premises and start using energy straight away. To make sure your supply is never interrupted, we'll automatically put you on a deemed rate, until you're ready to sign a new agreement.
The term ‘deemed’ simply means that by using this energy, it’s understood you have accepted these terms.
What is a change of occupancy?
A change of occupancy simply means when one business moves out of a premises and another moves in. If you’ve just taken over a site powered by Brook Green Supply, the energy supply keeps running so you’re never left without power. Until you set up a new contract, we’ll place you on a deemed rate to cover your usage.

About network charges
Please remember that the prices you see here don't include all network charges, such as Distribution Use of System (DUoS) and Transmission Use of System (TUoS) charges. These are set by third parties to cover the cost of delivering your energy and investing in future generation. They are passed through to you at the standard rate.
Looking for a better rate?
Deemed rates are designed to be temporary - and you’re likely paying more than you need to.
Moving on to a formal agreement will give you access to more competitive, long-term prices. Reach out today to see what options are available to your business.
Default rates
What are default rates?
Default rates apply when your contract with Brook Green Supply has come to an end and we haven’t got a new one in place. This happens when your contract expires or is terminated early. And while these prices will be different from your previous plan, the other terms and conditions of your original agreement will remain the same.
A default rate gives you the energy you need, while allowing you the time to find a new, long-term contract that’s a good fit for your business.
