The British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS) is a government scheme designed to reduce electricity costs for eligible energy-intensive manufacturers. Part of the wider British Industry Supercharger, it will provide qualifying businesses with relief from certain electricity policy costs from April 2027.
For eligible manufacturers, this could reduce electricity costs by around £35–£40/MWh.
Applications for BICS are open from 1 October to 30 November 2026, giving businesses a limited window to apply. With detailed electricity and production evidence required, now is the time to understand your eligibility and prepare.
